Perhaps before you received dental implants, you didn’t spend too much time throughout the day thinking about ways to keep your smile clean. Or, maybe you did but you aren’t sure if your old methods carry over into your current life with implants! Whatever the particular details, our Conroe, TX team knows that what you want is to enjoy optimal oral health that provides support to implants, so they can last and last. Fortunately, maintaining that healthy smile of yours is easy. Consider helpful tips!
Do That Daily Dental Hygiene Thing!
You may worry, like many patients do, that keeping your smile in good shape after receiving dental implants is going to be more challenging in some way. However, we are always so pleased to address this concern by reminding patients that smile care is going to essentially stay as it’s been forever! Yes, you’ll have implants. However, you still need to perform daily dental hygiene, twice daily, with the same major requirements. Brush your entire smile twice a day. Floss it once a day, too. This offers immense cleansing power, keeping both natural and artificial tissues clean and safe!
Rinse/Drink Water Throughout The Day
We hope patients remember that whether they have smiles composed solely of natural teeth or those smiles include dental implants, drinking water throughout the day and remembering to take time to rinse is incredibly helpful. Don’t forget about the many ways water can benefit you, whether you’re home or out and about. Consider the following:
- Water can rinse teeth clean
- Water can help soften stuck debris for easier removal
- Water will protect your oral health by helping to neutralize the pH in your mouth, so acid erosion and other issues do not occur
- It can help keep your breath fresh!
Carry Tote-Able Smile Cleansers With You
Good news! You don’t have to feel like you need a full tube of toothpaste and full size toothbrush with you at all time just to keep your smile and implants feeling clean on the go. Instead, consider toting along some smaller options with you. For instance, sugarless gum (assuming we have given you the green light to chew it) can offer amazing cleansing power. The same is true of floss picks and travel hygiene items!
