Dental Implant Discomfort: Is This Normal?

As you may have already guessed, when you receive dental implants, which requires oral surgery, there’s some amount of minor discomfort to be expected. Of course, this is what comes with any type of surgery, as such procedures interrupt your body’s tissues and cause some aggravation to your nerves. However, you then heal, processes and tissues “go back to normal” and you should be feeling like yourself again. With implants in the picture, you’ll even feel like you’ve got your smile back! Normal Discomfort

When you head home from receiving dental implants, you may experience some discomfort as you recover. It’s generally pain and inflammation that you can relieve with over-the-counter pain medication or with meds prescribed by our team. Remember that some pain, inflammation, and even bruising is normal and can last for several days. Unless it is severe or is getting worse instead of better, all is likely just fine.
