Dental Implants: Making Sure You’re Brushing Well!

If you’re not brushing well or frequently enough or with the right toothbrush, then you’re not giving your dental implants what they need. If you’re not doing that, then you are putting your implants at risk of problems and your oral health is likely to suffer some consequences. Why not make sure you’re up-to-date and fully informed regarding the details of proper brushing (this applies to your smile whether it is all implants, some implants and natural teeth, or even one implant with natural teeth). Now, for the particulars…

Your Brush Should Be…

Your brush should be soft. This means that the bristles should not be hard, medium, firm, or any variety other than “soft.” It’s easy to figure out. When you purchase your brush, it will mention the firmness of the bristles on the package. Your brush should also be something that is comfortable and easy to use. If it doesn’t fit around the sides of your teeth, for instance, it’s too large! Try different selections and find one that benefits you, so you can keep dental implants and natural teeth clean.

You Should Be Brushing Every Day…

With or without dental implants, you should brush your teeth every day, two times a day. Each one of those brushing routines should take a total of two minutes for a total of four daily minutes spent brushing.

Your Approach Should Look Like…

  • It should be thorough.
  • Brush all surfaces. It’s that simple.

You Should Press…

Gently! Never brush aggressively or rush through it. When you’re a hard brusher, you irritate your gum tissue. It will begin to recede, which exposes your teeth and dental implants to all sorts of problems! Keep it gentle for success.
